Obituary

Sandra Jean (Findley) Lloyd, age 79, of Wadesville, IN, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

Jean was born April 15, 1942, in Jasper, Indiana to Roy and Elsie (Rainey) Findley. She worked many jobs over the years but enjoyed her role as housekeeper for McCurdy Senior Facility before retiring. Jean was the original mama bear. She was fiercely loyal and protective of her family, whom she loved dearly. She was particularly fond of her grandchildren and great grandson. Her love knew no bounds when it came to supporting her family. Jean took pride in her ability to provide for her family by working, providing three square meals a day, raising three rambunctious boys and keeping a spotless home. And when there were sacrifices to be made—she put her own needs last. While she might wear a piece of clothing until it was threadbare, she made sure her boys were the best dressed. She provided her sons with a new complete wardrobe at the beginning of each school year.

She married the love of her life, Marvin, in 1959—and then again in 1975. Needless to say, our family gave up on deciding which anniversary date to celebrate and often recognized both in any given year. Their marriage, though not perfect, endured the test of time until Marvin’s death in 2010. Once Jean and Marvin became empty nesters, they often enjoyed packing a small cooler of cold beer and fishing together for hours. As Marvin’s health declined, Jean cared for him with love and compassion until his death. She dearly missed him (and sometimes cursed him) until her last day on this Earth.

Jean is remembered with love by her sons, Randy Lloyd of Bloomington and Darren Lloyd and his wife, Becky of Stewartsville; former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Lloyd; grandchildren, Eleanor Lloyd and Dalton Lloyd; great grandson, Ryder Lloyd; step-grandchildren, Justice Eldridge, David Eldridge, Amanda Estes, and James (Kyndra) Estes; step-great granddaughter, Mylee; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Michael Kremer; brother and sister-in-law, (whom she considered a sister) Don and Sue Findley; and many nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Elsie Findley; husband of 51 years, Charles Marvin Lloyd; son, Ricky Lloyd; sister, Gerry Blackburn; and grandson, Ryan Lloyd.
