Sara R. (Knight) Dixon, age 85, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at River Pointe Health Campus.
Sara was born January 17, 1938, in Henderson, KY, to Charlie T. and Katherine (Parker) Knight. She graduated from Bosse High School in 1956 and attended two years at Evansville College, now University of Evansville, where she minored in English and Journalism and was a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Sara was an active member of McCutchanville Community Church and volunteered for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed reading and Bible study.
Sara is survived by her daughter, Melanie Lowe-Futrell (Jimmy); son, Kenneth Blake Lowe (Nancy); stepdaughter, Kathy Ellerbrook (Larry); stepson, Douglas Dixon (Patricia); sister-in-law, Annie Knight; niece, Penny Knight Rister; and many grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren, and cousins.
Sara is preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Katherine Knight; loving husband of 42 years, David J. Dixon, who passed away in 2020; and brother, Charles Parker.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Greg Davis officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 17, 2023, and from 12:00 p.m. until service time, Saturday, March 18, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
