Sharon K. Boling

Sharon K. (Hazelwood) Boling, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Sharon was born in Henderson, Kentucky, to Lafe Hazelwood, Jr. and Frances Pruitt. She attended Henderson County High School. She drove a school bus for 18 years for Henderson County Transportation System. Sharon was so very loved by all the children she drove to and from school every day. Sharon had the biggest heart and was truly a giving person. She was a Kentucky Commonwealth Colonel for many years. Sharon was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Kapperman Unit #44 for 30 years. She was a true coal miner’s daughter. Sharon loved being a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a wonderful friend. She leaves to her loved ones memories of love, laughter and class. Sharon was a women one would never forget.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Donald “Don”; and her daughter, Rhonda Skelton (Randy); her sons, Christopher Boling and Stephen Boling; her granddaughter, Randa Skelton; her grandson, Jeremy Skelton; and her great grandchildren, Haven Wheeler, Dax and Dalton Doerter.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Lafe and Frances Hazelwood; her daughter, Shannon Peavyhouse; her brother, Charles E. Hazelwood; her granddaughter, Mindi Skelton-Doerter.

Sharon’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Heart to Heart Hospice House, Dr. Karl Sash, Laura, Steph, and all of the staff for their care and compassion, as well as the staff at Comfort Keepers, Victoria, Latera (Re-Re), Nicki and Pat, while taking care of Sharon. You all became part of the family. Sharon’s family would also like to mention their gratitude to Mama’s Kitchen for assisting with meals during this time.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor David Pry officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
