Sharon Colette (Murray) Riley

Sharon Colette (Murray) Riley, age 81, of Newburgh, IN, passed away at 4:28 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.

Sharon was born January 28, 1940, in Shady Grove, KY, to Ellis and Lillian (Waide) Murray. She graduated from Fredonia High School in 1958 as Valedictorian and went on to graduate from Lockyear’s College of Business in 1959. Sharon was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church since 1977 and a member of the Eastern Star. She was employed many years at Welborn Baptist Hospital in accounting and later managed Fannie May Candy Store for their time in Evansville. Sharon was a selfless, giving person who had a true servant’s heart. She had a strong faith throughout her life and was involved in several ministries including WMU, Evangelism Explosion, Judgment House, and Christians Embracing Offenders. When she wasn’t serving in ministry, she was devoted to her family, especially her treasured grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were here greatest blessings in life.

Sharon is survived by her son, Jeff Riley (Jacquelyn); daughter, Michelle Brady (Wayne); brother, Larry Murray (Paula); grandchildren, Stephanie Flores (Eder), Sarah Goodsen (Chad), Leah Hicks (Matt), Logan Groeger, Noah Riley (Alexis), Jonah Riley (Julie), and Rachel Riley (Cameron Nelson); and great grandchildren, Sophia, Mia, and Theo Flores, Brayden and Colton Goodsen, Hunter and Grayson Hicks, and Hudson and Collins Riley.

Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved husband of 57 years, Charles R. Riley, who passed in 2015.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 20, 2021, at First Southern Baptist Church, 25 South Cullen Avenue, Evansville, with Pastor Reggie Haire, Pastor Carl Kelleher, and Head of ECS, Mike Allen officiating. Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 20, 2021, in Shady Grove Cemetery in Shady Grove, KY, with Pastor Jimmy Sigler officiating.

Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, and from 9:00 a.m. until service time, Monday, December 20, 2021, at First Southern Baptist Church.
