Shirley A. “Squirrel” (Burnett) Naylor, age 93, of Newburgh, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Newburgh Healthcare.
Shirley was born October 15, 1931, in Marion Co., IN, to Herbert and Maxine (Vehling) Burnett. She graduated from Washington High School and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church since 1967. She retired as the Supervisor of the Catalog Department at Sears & Roebuck after 21 years of service. Shirley was President of PTA while her children were growing up, was a member of the Kiwanis Club of East Evansville, and later volunteered twice a week at Caze Elementary School. She was an avid Aces fan and was a season ticket holder for over 20 years. Shirley was a wonderful cook, and she enjoyed tending to her azaleas and other flowers in the cool of the early mornings.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Nancy Naylor (Mary Jo Hanna); son, Dale Naylor (Laura); and granddaughters, Ellie and Emma.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; and loving husband of 42 years, Gerald J. Naylor, who passed away in 1993.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. CST, Monday, May 19, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Chaplain Kris Holzmeyer officiating. Burial will be Private in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. CST, Monday, May 19, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
