Stephen R. Libs

Stephen Robert Libs, age 61, of Evansville, IN, passed peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2022, at St. Vincent Hospital – Evansville, surrounded by family.

Stephen was born December 1, 1960, in Quebec, Canada, and adopted through Catholic Charities by Robert P. and Rosita M. (Knott) Libs. He graduated from Harrison High School in 1979, attended the University of Evansville, and studied the business of chocolatier at Gannon University. Stephen learned the business at a very young age from his father, Bob. He married the love of his life, Marjorie on March 2, 1984, and together they established Stephen Libs Finer Chocolates in 1985. He was an active member of Right to Life Southwest Indiana, and served on the Board of Directors of Retail Confectioners International. Stephen was passionate about making candy and loved the candy business. His legacy will live on through his wife and son as they serve their customers.

Stephen was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Stephen is survived by his mother, Rosita M. (Knott) Libs; his loving wife, Marjorie A. (Hirsch) Libs; son, Tom J. Libs (Kaylee Schmitt); sisters, Lisa L. Kormelink (Tim), Susan B. Libs; brother, Joe B. Libs; sister in-law, Susan Hirsch; brother in-laws, Jerry Hirsch and Mark Hirsch (Tracey); and several nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Stephen is preceded in death by his father, Robert P. Libs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Father Ted Tempel officiating. Burial will be private. 

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service, Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
