Stephen Riepe Obituary

Stephen S. Riepe, age 74, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020.

Steve was born in 1946, in Evansville, IN, to Addison and Billie (Rogers) Riepe. He was in the second graduating class from Harrison High School in 1964, and he went on to attend the University of Evansville where he was a member of the TKE Fraternity. Steve played varsity basketball at Allen Military Academy in Texas and was a United States Army Veteran. While in the Army, he played on the football team. He was the co-owner of Laundry Land at Covert & Vann. Steve loved all animals, enjoyed watching 30s and 40s movies, and enjoyed watching the Indianapolis Colts and all IU sports.

Steve was the lucky recipient of Super Bowl 24 tickets, compliments of his Aunt, Mary Lou Hermann, and enjoyed the exciting opportunity to attend a Super Bowl championship game. 

Steve was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. 

Steve is survived by his aunt Gayle Carter. Cousins: Robin Burnette, Wally Campbell, Jane Ann Cotton, Jim Hermann, Cinda Stephens, and Kim Burnette. Caring neighbor Nita Ruxer and close friends David and Joy Stien.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Addison and Billie Riepe; uncle, Robert Carter; and his beloved cat, Tiger, “the smartest cat in the world.”

Graveside Services will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Don Gray officiating.
