Steven Ray Handley

Steven Ray Handley, age 71, of Evansville, IN, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, November 2, 2021, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Steve was born July 3, 1950, in Evansville, IN, to Austin Lee and Mildred Marie (Goodwin) Handley. He was a Veteran in the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Steve was a member of the Church of the Cross. He was a construction worker and spent the last 36 years as a drywall hanger for Hahn Brothers Drywall Co. Steve loved being with his family and friends, watching Super Bowl Sunday games, camping, playing softball, corn hole, basketball, and playing with his grandkids. His favorite teams were the Denver Broncos and Duke.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife, Tricia (Moore) Handley, of 24 years and 27 years together; children, Misty Richardt of Fort Collins, CO, Steven Donald Handley, Rick Goad (Shannon), Dominique Goad, Austin Handley, and Karly Handley, all of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Forest Cayce Holmes, Nevaeh Hughes, Ledgen Hughes, Callie Jones, Gabe Fredrickson, Shaylon Devon, and Allison Bailey; 4 great grandchildren; niece, Nikki Moore; nephews, Nicholas Hiatt and Hunter Moore; great nephews, Jazper Hildenbrand; and lifelong friend, Blue.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents, Austin and Mildred Handley; brother, Ronald Handley; parents-in-law, Sterling Rodman Moore and Lynne Willis; best friend, Donnie Cooper; and good friends, Ron Hurt and Billie Bradshaw.

The family would like to thank all the support and prayers in this time of need as well as a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses, and Techs at Gateway for taking care of this most wonderful and amazing husband, dad, uncle, brother-in-law, and papaw.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, November 8, 2021, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor, Jack Eberhardt officiating. A Live Stream will be available beginning twenty minutes prior to the service time.
