Susan Baker Obituary

Susan Juanette (Dixon) Baker, age 89, of Evansville, IN, passed peacefully at 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Susan was born August 23, 1931, in Denham Springs, LA, to Allen Dixon and Sally (McDowell) Dixon. Susan graduated from Denham Springs High School in 1948 and then attended Southeastern Louisiana College. Throughout her life, she enjoyed serving as a church organist and pianist for several congregations. Susan used her passion and talent to teach private piano lessons for over 38 years. Several of her students have gone on to pursue careers in music. She enjoyed traveling to 49 of the 50 states and throughout Europe. Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family will cherish her memory forever.   

Susan is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Dariel M. Baker; sons, Steve Connor (Chrisie), Gary Connor (Gretchen), Gene Baker (Jane), John Baker and Danny Baker (Julie); grandchildren, Sarah, Ashley, Brian and Rachel Connor; Brandon, Samuel, and Chloe Baker, Megan and Luke Baker; great grandchildren, Seth and Brody Baker, and Carter Connor; many beloved nieces and nephews and a pack of beloved grand-dogs.

Susan is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Elaine Barnett and Dixie Campbell; brothers, Bert Dixon and Charles Dixon.
