Thelma Lucille (Dickerson) Sides, age 99, of Evansville, IN, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Envive of Evansville.

Thelma was born November 26, 1924, in Lola, KY, to Thomas H. and Minnie (Belt) Dickerson. She married Gene on February 28, 1946, they moved to Evansville in 1950, and they were married 56 years. She worked in plants during World War II, and during her children’s school years, she worked for the Vanderburgh School Corporation. Thelma enjoyed raising her family and being a homemaker. She was a 50-year member of Washington Avenue Baptist Church where she was a member of the Joy Group, Class Secretary, and volunteered with the Clothes Closet. Thelma enjoyed attending rummage sales, gardening, church activities, and spending time with her family. She loved her family and was very active in her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s lives.

Thelma is survived by her daughters, Patricia Sides (Casey Harison) and Karen Hermann (Steve); son, Larry Sides (Brenda); grandchildren, Shelley Sides (Michael Wezet), Nick Hermann (Gina), Michelle Garrett (Tommy), Rachel Nagle, and Mallory Johnson (Clay); great grandchildren, Madeline, Cameron, and Owen Nagle, Lucas and Reagan Hermann, and Olivia and Emma Johnson; and sister-in-law, Shirley Tiemann (Jack).

Thelma is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Minnie Dickerson; and loving husband of 56 years, O. Gene Sides, who passed away in 2002.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Brother Ed Ellis officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Friday, January 26, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
