Thomas Titzer Obituary

Thomas B. Titzer, 87, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 8:20 am, Monday, May 17, 2021 in Punta Gorda, FL.

Thomas was born in Evansville, IN, to Ben and Irene (Craig) Titzer.  He graduated from Memorial High School in 1951 and from the University of Evansville with a Mechanical Engineering Degree in 1960.  Thomas was a lifetime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic minister and volunteered during the construction of the original 1950 facility.

Thomas (Tom) enjoyed many things: family, hunting, raising bird dogs, boating, bowling, golfing, camping, and RVing. He built the house his family lived in for over 50 years and excelled at creating many intricate items including a ‘swamp’ cooler to air condition the house, hundreds of golf clubs, specialty trophies, beautiful knives, and various other mechanical devices throughout the years.  His hands were never idle.

Shipping out to Japan and Korea inspired a great passion for traveling.  This passion led to countless memorable family trips.  He started out tent camping at the Land Between the Lakes, Disneyworld, Estes Park in the Rocky Mountains, and many, many weekends at the “lot” on the Ohio River.  He graduated up to trailer camping and finally on to luxurious cruises.  He and his family cruised to Alaska, the Western Mediterranean with a week-long visit to Rome and the Vatican City, and the Saint Laurence Seaway before Mary Ann, his wife of 56 years passed.  He continued his adventures with Linda Lockyear – Titzer traveling to China, Germany to visit Titz stadt, Ireland, the Baltic Seas, Bahrain, and around South America through the Strait of Magellan.

He especially loved to fish with his family and friends and was often out on the Ohio River, trolling Lake Erie, and back bay fishing at Port Charlotte catching the big ones. One of his final wishes was to return to Florida to make a couple more trips out with Captain Dave Stephens.  His last trip was Sunday May 9th.

His final wish was for his family to pray for him to go to heaven.

He is survived by daughters, Anne M. Stevens (Michael) of Princeton, NJ and Christine M. Rasmussen (Erik) of Ravensdale, WA; sons, Patrick T. Titzer (Mitzi) of Centennial, CO and Douglas E. Titzer (Kristine) of Falls Church, VA; daughter in law, Heather Bersch Titzer of Evansville, IN; spouse, Linda M. Lockyear-Titzer of Evansville, IN; sisters, Emily Utterback (David) of Indianapolis, IN and Diane Schwartz (Josef) of Half Moon Bay, CA; brothers, John Titzer (Beverly) of Newburgh, IN, Mike Titzer (Patricia) of Evansville, IN, and Mark Titzer (Sunny) of Newburgh, IN; sister in-law, Bonnie Titzer of Newburgh, IN; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn Bunca (Jeffrey) of Princeton, NJ, Kelsey Wright (Scott) of Abington, MD, Benjamin Titzer of Colorado Springs, CO, Melanie Titzer of Winchester, VA and Tumo Rasmussen of Ravensdale, WA.
