Timothy James "TJ" Schafer, Jr.

Timothy James “TJ” Schafer, Jr., age 40, of Evansville, IN, passed away Thursday morning, May 18, 2023.

TJ was born September 27, 1982, in Evansville, IN, to Timothy James Schafer, Sr. and Myra (Alvis) Reeder. He was baptized at St. Joe in the County Catholic Church, and he graduated from North High School in 2001 where he played baseball. He worked for Alva Electric, Inc. and Vanderburgh County Garage, and he was a member of Iron Workers Local 103. TJ loved going out on Old Hickory Lake, racing motocross, and riding his Harley with friends. He loved his friends and meeting new people – he was practically the town socialite. TJ especially loved Kelly and their dog, Luna, aka WooWoo.

TJ is survived by his mother and stepfather, Myra (Alvis) Reeder (Hugh); father, Timothy Schafer; sisters, Taylor Anne Engels (KJ), Lindsay Barnett (Damon), Brandie Schafer, Tanner Schafer and Tabitha Schafer; nieces and nephews, Nash Barnett, Gray Barnett, Lakelyn Engels, Brycen Schafer and Braylon Schafer; grandmother, Ruth Raber (Harold); and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.

TJ is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Dorothy Schafer; grandfather, Joe Alvis; beloved uncle, Richard Alvis; and uncles, Mark Schafer and Brian Bagby.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Kevin Waters and Pastor Kris Holzmeyer officiating. Entombment will be held at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 22, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
