Tracy Lee Lechner (60), husband of twenty-four years to Tami Lechner and father to Lauren Lechner, peacefully passed away December 18, 2021 surrounded by his family. Tracy was born on September 27, 1961, in Evansville, IN to Al Lechner and Regena (Green) Bell. Tracy graduated Harrison High School and University of Southern Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in communications. After earning his degree, he went on to work at Coca-Cola and Kellogg. In 1992, while eating breakfast, Tracy survived the JoJo’s restaurant plane crash.
Besides being a wonderful, committed husband and father he enjoyed time spent with friends, bicycle riding, wood working, cooking on his Big Green Egg, classic rock, and playing with his pup Ottis. One of his favorite things to do was to share stories with family and his buddies, always remembering every little detail. It was never a dull moment when Tracy was around as he would always have the whole room laughing with his witty sense of humor.
Tracy was a fun-loving individual who bravely faced and fought cancer over the past four years with a positive and determined attitude that was truly admired by those that knew him.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Tracy is survived by two brothers, Gene (Lou) Lechner and Scott (Chris) Lechner, stepbrothers Bill (Margie) Crawford, Dan (Ruth) Crawford, stepsister Robin (Mike) Carey, his mother Regena Bell, and his stepmother Teddy Lechner.
Tracy's father, Al Lechner, preceded Tracy in death 25 days earlier to help prepare heaven for Tracy's entrance. He is also preceded in death by his dog Hank and best friend Rusty Thomas.
