Vernon Ray Tremper, age 89, of Evansville, IN, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023, at Cypress Grove of Newburgh.
Vernon was born June 25, 1934, in Connersville, IN, to Raymond H. and Sarah Mae (Murdoch) Tremper. He attended High School and enlisted in the United States Navy when he was 17 years old. Vernon served during the Korean War and received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. Vernon was Commander of VFW 2953 for over 10 years. He retired as an Iron Worker in 1996. Vernon enjoyed sitting in his recliner and watching St. Louis Cardinals games.
Vernon is survived by his grandson, Joey Griffin (Ivy Dugan); niece, Pamela Ray LaMar (David); sister-in-law, Babby Pickett; and beloved dog, Mandy.
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Sarah Tremper; wife, Delores (Greene) Tremper; daughter, Barbara Griffin; sister, Sharon Louise Tremper Jarvis; and son-in-law, Doug Griffin.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Kris Holzmeyer officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery where the American Legion Kapperman Post will render full military rites.
Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Thursday, September 7, 2023, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
