Veronica V. “Fronie” (Helfert) Ritzert, age 95, of Boonville, Indiana, passed away on February 3, 2020 at Hamilton Pointe in Newburgh.
Fronie was born December 20, 1924, in St. Wendel, Indiana, to Nicholas and Elizabeth (Reisinger) Helfert. Fronie grew up farming with her family. After working at Bernardin Bottle Cap Co., Fendrich Cigar Company and GE she returned to farming in Spencer and Warrick Counties. Although she did not have any children of her own, she would welcome and care for any child, especially those with four-legs or feathers. Fronie was known for her zucchini bread. She would bake over a hundred loaves every year to give away to family and friends. Fronie enjoyed playing clabber, bingo and scratch off lottery tickets.
Fronie is survived by her brother, Otto Helfert; several nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband of 60 years, Richard E. “Dick” Ritzert, who passed away in 2008; six sisters, Gertrude Helfert, Theresa Trigg, Margaret Bell, Olivia Burton, Lorene Sirels and Albertine Miller and three brothers, Clarence, Ben and Raymond Helfert.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Gilbert Powell officiating. Burial will be in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 7, 2020 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service, Saturday, February 8, 2020 at BOONE FUNERAL HOME EAST CHAPEL.
