Vickie Lynn (Owen) Higgs

Vickie Lynn (Owen) Higgs, age 66, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Vickie was born on April 19, 1959, in Evansville, Indiana, to Charles R. and Genaveria (Henderson) Owen. She graduated from Reitz High School in 1977 and was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Vickie dedicated many years working as a cook, sharing her talents at Bennigan’s, Red Lobster, and Cracker Barrel. She had a passion for life and enjoyed attending hippie festivals, surrounding herself with flowers of all variances, and listening to music. Above all, Vicki cherished her family—especially her grandchildren—and was known for her love of cooking, with her homemade dumplings being a favorite among those she loved.

Vickie is survived by her mother, Genaveria Owen; children, Jeremy Wade (Jamie) and K.C. Leach (Matt); sisters, Dianna Wyatt (Johnny), Julie Davis, Janet Johnson, and Goldie Gourley; brother, Rickie Owen; and her beloved grandchildren, Autumn Wade, Andrew Lara, Chase Higgs, Kristina Lara, Sydni Kasmer, Aubree Lara, and Kaylee Higgs; great grandchild, Oliver and a great grandson on the way.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Eugene Higgs, Sr.; her son, Adam Owen, her sister, Donna Owen; and her father.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Ave, Evansville IN, 47715, with Pastor Cole Hughes officiating. Burial will be private at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
