Victor Ray Doty, age 78, of Evansville, IN, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.

Victor was born February 9, 1947, in Clarksville, AR, to Paul Victor Doty and Juanita Doty. He was a graduate of North High School with a focus in Vocational Machine Shop. Victor went on to graduate from Indiana State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1971 and a Master’s Degree in 1972. He continued with an additional 90 hours of education to complete a Vocational Director Certification as well as a Secondary Administration License. He strongly believed in the importance of education, as it was a major focus throughout his life and and in the life of his family.

Victor was employed by the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for 34 ½ years as a teacher, administrator, and principal and by the Henderson County Schools for 10 years as a principal.

Victor’s passion for service was evident in every part of his life. He was extremely active within McCutchanville Community Church, where he touched countless lives with his guidance, wisdom, and unwavering belief in the power of community and prayer. His commitment to his faith was central to everything he did—whether in the church or in the everyday acts of kindness he extended to others. Victor was a past president of the Retired Teachers’ Association, and he was a member of the Evansville Masonic Lodge 64.

Victor’s legacy is one of service, love, and faith. His commitment to both his church and his community was an inspiration to all who knew him. He had the gift of encouragement and seeing the potential in others. He was a man of great integrity, always ready to lend a hand, offer encouragement, and share the love of God with those around him.

Victor’s devotion was to his family, and he is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara (Pickett) Doty; daughters, Lora Massey (Robb) and Julie Burris; son, David Doty (Marcie), all from Evansville, IN; sister, Mary Getz; sister-in-law, Debbie Lovell; nieces and nephews; granddaughters, Lauren Burris (Luke), Elyse Stutzman (Kody), Ashley Burris, Maleah Marshall (Jimmy), Caleigh Massey, Katelyn Minton (Logan), and Chelsea Doty (Nick); grandsons, Joshua Pearson (Nikki), Matthew Doty (Tess), Chaz Burris, Devin Burris; great granddaughters, Paisley Baker, Lyla Pearson and Evie Marshall; lifelong friend, Don Skelton; and outdoor sidekick, Tori.
