Wayne Johnson, age 89, of Evansville, IN, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020.
Wayne was born December 17, 1930 in Moline, IL to Nelson and Alice (Pinaire) Johnson. He graduated from Moline Senior High School in 1949. He married Carlene Reeb on November 18, 1950 at the First Methodist Church of Moline. Wayne served as an electrician in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a shipping supervisor at Alcoa and retired after 42 years. Wayne was a member of Christian Fellowship Church and a former member of the Optimist Club. He was scheduled to take his Honor Flight this fall.
He enjoyed exercising at St. Mary's, fishing, golf, and playing with his grandkids.
He was hard-working, strong, mischievous, a romantic, and a great dancer. He was an incredibly devoted husband for 63 years. His faith in Jesus Christ was his anchor.
Wayne is survived by one son: David Johnson and his wife, Julie (King) of Evansville; two daughters: Dana Johnson, and Dawn McClure and her husband, John of Bruceville; five grandchildren: Kyle Finn, Kristin Giddens, Matthew Giddens, Lauren Jacobs and her husband Matt, and Benjamin McClure; five great-grandchildren: Eliza Finn, Madilyn and Colin Lutz, Piper Morris, Jack and Elsie Jacobs; one sister: Bette Samuelson; and several nieces and nephews.
Wayne was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carlene; his father and mother: Nelson and Alice; his brother: Perry Holt; and his sister; Sally (Holt) Chancellor.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 12, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Mr. John McClure officiating.
