Wayne Allen Sturm, age 57, of Evansville, IN, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2025, at his home surrounded by family. We would say quietly but until the end, Wayne was anything but quiet.
Wayne was born June 17, 1968, in Evansville, IN. Anyone that knew him, knew he was a “Big BSer” and always had a story to tell. He graduated from Bosse High School in 1986 and before his Senior year he signed up to serve his country. He was a disabled Army Veteran and extremely proud to say he served his country. He had amazing stories about his time in the service and his time serving in Germany.
Wayne never met a stranger he didn't like. He enjoyed everyone's company. He was the most positive person that you would ever meet. He always said, "If the sun is up, and he's up, then it's a good day". He never let his diagnosis get him down, he took each day as it came with a positive outlook. He enjoyed bird watching, playing with the dogs, and especially loved spending time with his wife, grandkids, kids, and friends.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Lisa (Wood) Sturm, caregiver and best friend of 36 years – He was known as "Wayne O" to Lisa. He sure gave her hell. Wayne was the calm to her chaos and the ying to her yang. He’s also survived by his 3 wonderful kids, Cherish Guin (John), Greg Bryam (Ana), and Brooke Meyer (Jeff); his 3 smart aleck grandkids who he couldn’t be prouder, Justis, Bridgit, and Jayden Guin; 2 dogs, Kirby – his pug (old as shit, I’m sure she will pass away soon too), and Crazy Gracie – Lisa’s German Shepherd; his dad, Jerry W. Sturm, who was always there when he was needed; mother, Lillian Sturm; and sister, Tina Gibson.
We are so eternally grateful for his nurse, Alexa Weinzapfel, who was more like family than anything, for her love and care she gave to Wayne, we can never thank her enough.
