William “Bill” H. Ethridge, age 94, of Evansville, IN, passed away Friday, August 29, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
Bill was born March 7, 1931 in McEwen, TN, to Aden M. and Ruby (Creekmur) Ethridge. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1950. Bill served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, American Legion, Chosen Few, and the Disabled American Veterans. Bill worked for AT&T Communications as a Network Supervisor, where he retired after 36 years. He was a member of Washington Avenue Church of Christ for 40 years.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Doris “Dolly” (Brown) Ethridge; daughter, Sheryl Holtzclaw; sons, William Ethridge, Jr. (Pamela) and Gregory Ethridge (Cheryl); sister, Patty Heid; grandchildren, Jason Arvin (Valerie) and Joe Ethridge (Sharla); and 8 great grandchildren.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leon, Jim, Roy, Tom, Walter “Tenny”, Stanley, and Bob; a sister, Ella Mae and a son-in-law, Dewey Holtzclaw.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN, with Neil Kempf officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park where the American Legion Kapperman Post 44 will render military rites.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel. The Retired Marine Corp League 1090 will hold a Military Service at 6:00 p.m.
Visitation will continue from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
