William Edward “Bill” Wright, age 94, of Evansville, IN, passed away at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Heritage Center.
Bill was born September 14, 1925, in Stonega, VA, to Cornelius F. Wright and Rhoda Jane (Hughes) Wright. He served his country in the Marine Corps during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Bill served in the Reserves during the Korean War and fought in the Battle at Chosin Reservoir. He was honored to be part of the Honor Flight. Bill attended Central United Methodist Church and later joined Old North United Methodist Church. He was a Youth Director, Scout Master, volunteered at The Salvation Army, and enjoyed fishing. Bill especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Whipple (David) of Evansville and Susan Wright of Denali Park, AK; son, Bruce Wright (Anne) of Evansville; grandchildren, Jennifer Pusateri, Jonathan Wright, Zac Winstead, Whitney Huang, Andrew Whipple, Alex Whipple, and Sam Whipple; great grandchildren, Kira, Sadie, Lily, Benjamin, Brandon, Isaac, and Evelyn.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyth Wright; siblings, Cecil Wright, Charles Wright, Nell Baldwin, C.F. Wright, Earl Wright, Infant Amy Wright, Elda Mae Hall, and Harold Wright.
Private Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2020, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Reverend Michael Monahan officiating.
