William “Bill” Deneke Obituary

William “Bill” E. Deneke, age 85, of Elberfeld, IN, passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Blount Memorial Hospital, Maryville, TN.

William E. Deneke was born April 13, 1938, in Elberfeld, IN, to William G. and Mary M. (Thompson) Deneke. He graduated from Elberfeld High School class of 1956.  Bill served in the United States Marine Corps on active duty, and later served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He retired from Alcoa in 1994. Bill was very active in the scouts, and he was a die-hard IU fan. He was an avid musician, loved all types of music, and loved playing the guitar. Bill was an exceptional man to all who knew him.  He loved his family dearly. 

Bill is survived by his daughters, Theresa “Teri” Conley and Jennifer Tillmanns (Gery); sons, Bill Deneke (Tim Spangler), and Michael “Mike” Deneke; grandchildren, Elizabeth Scales (Adam), Angel Jackson (LB), Aschyr Conley (Ashley), Keenan Deneke, and Jesse Deneke (Berkley); and 4 great grandchildren.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 60 years, Norma A. (Schnoor) Deneke; daughter, Cheryl Deneke; and sister, Brenda Berge.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 19, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastors Bob Simpkins and David Schulz, Jr. officiating, where Marines Honors will be rendered by an active serving detail and River Cities DET 1090 of the Marine Corps League NEW. Burial will be in Zion UCC Cemetery in Elberfeld, IN. 

Friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2024, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of service, Friday, January 19, 2024, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
