William E. "Bill" Bates, 42, of Evansville, died at 7:30 a.m. Sunday at Cypress Grove Rehabilitation Center in Newburgh after a long illness.
He was a musician and had played with the Black Jack 21 band.
Surviving are his parents, Dorothy and Clyde Bates of Evansville; a sister and brother-in-law who cared for him, Brenda and Harold Martin of Lafayette, Ind.; and a nephew.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Boone Funeral Home — East Chapel, 5330 Washington Ave., the Rev. William Spears officiating, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
