William Michael “Mike” Smith, age 69, of Elberfeld, IN, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Linda E. White Hospice House.
Mike was born March 29, 1956, in Princeton, KY, to Billy Leroy and Wanda Mae (Gilbert) Smith. He attended Castle High School, and he attended New Horizon Fellowship Church. He worked as a Truck Driver for many years before retiring in 2018, even owning his own company, Smith Trucking, for a few years. He loved being outdoors, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting deer, coon, and rabbits w/ his huntin’ dogs. He was a member of Hopkins County Coon Club and Dog Patch Coon Club. Mike enjoyed woodworking and building things, and he enjoyed listening to Country music and Southern Gospel music. He especially loved his family, and he enjoyed spending time with them and telling stories about his friends and loved ones.
Mike is survived by his father, Billy Smith; beloved wife of 49 years, Frances Mae (Cavender) Smith; daughter, Kristie Smith (Leif Almon); son, Andrew Smith (Kristie); sister, Tammie Bugher (Laine); brothers, Robert “Bobby” Smith (Jane) and Gary Smith (Selina); and granddaughter and light of his life, Emma Grace Smith.
Mike is preceded in death by his mother, Wanda Smith, who passed away in 2001.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel – A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville, IN, with Carl Mann officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 18, 2025, and from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel.
