Taylor B Altheide, Jr.

Taylor Bryan Altheide, Jr., age 79, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away at 9:15 am on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at his home.

Taylor was born September 10, 1938 to the late Taylor Bryan Altheide and the late Ivy  (Cummans) Altheide. He graduated from Reitz High School in 1956 and then from Evansville College in 1961 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked as an electrical engineer and rates manager for SIGECO for 40 years.

He was happiest when surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren, or sitting on a beach reading a book, or watching sports on television with his dog Lizzie at his side. His favorite time of the year was the Christmas season, listening to old holiday standards on vinyl while decorating his home and making homemade snack mix and cookies.

Taylor is survived by his wife of 19 years, Betty (Armstrong) Altheide; sons Taylor Bryan Altheide III of Newburgh, IN, Jeffrey Carter (Sandy) Altheide of Nashville, TN, and Eric Alan (Kendra) Altheide of Newburgh, IN; step-children Erica (Ed) Nemergut, Josh (Emily) Walters, Greta (Matt) Walters McClintock; grandchildren Sasha (Bryan), Rosie (Kevin), Christina (Daniel), Ashley, Mandy, Ivy (Nathan), Owen, Grace, Spencer, Kate, Maggie, Josh, James, Eleanor, and Finn; great-grandchildren Eston, Tabitha, Blaire and Daniel, sister-in-law Kathy Hobbs, and niece and nephew Amy Feitl and Wayne Arend.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Bill Arend.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church with Reverend Josh Walters officiating. Intunement will follow in the Patrician Chapel at Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm, Monday, November 27, 2017 at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel - A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville

Memorial contributions may be made to Riley’s Children’s Hospital and the American Heart Association.
