Judie, I was so sorry to hear of your mother's passing. I thought a lot of her and Wayne. They were truly a great couple. My Aunt Cissy said they were some of her best friends. Cissy has passed on at the age of 88. I will keep you and the family in my thoughts and prayers. I am truly sorry and express my deepest sympathy. I still remember the time Uncle Tom had me clean the carpet for them. Best wishes Judie to you and the rest of the family.

Judi, this is Rosann from River Pointe. I just wanted to say how sorry I AM Wilma's passing.
I just loved that little lady so much. I loved to sit and talk with her. She was a real hoot. I enjoyed every minute of hanging and re-ararnging her pictures for her.
I tried to catch you before I left River Pointe, just never caught up with you. Just know that she was loved and will be missed.

I became a friend of Wilma Cook at the River Pointe Health Campus in May 2016 while I was recuperating from a fractured back. She and I became friends after visiting and realizing we had very similar childhood and teenage experiences. She took shorthand in high school and maybe business school. I am not sure about the business school, however she did excel in shorthand. I also took shorthand and later in life worked as a court reporter. I had my old shorthand book at home and my husband brought it to me and I shared it with her. She came to my room one evening and we reminisced about our lives. She shared with me that she, her mother and sister rode the Greyhound Bus to Evansville and caught it beside Old Highway 62. I rode the ES&N Bus into Evansville to attend Lockyear's Business College from Boonville. We also stopped along the way to pick up passengers and it took me approximately one hour to get to Evansville and I walked to Lockyear's, (the building has since been torn down, however it was located on 4th street, I think. It was located next door to the YMCA and Indiana Bell Telephone was very close). I cannot remember the cost of a ticket into Evansville however I am sure it was not very much.

She shared with me her experience of standing along the highway with her mother and sister and her mother telling them to "Hold up their hands or the bus driver would not stop." She said she and her sister would forget and start playing around and their mother would remind them to HOLD UP THEIR HANDS OR THE BUS DRIVER WOULD NOT STOP. We both laughed and laughed. I could just imagine how they might have looked. We both got a good laugh out of this since I also rode the bus into Evansville.

The other thing I remember about Wilma was that her appearance was very important to her. She always looked so pretty and made an effort to do so.
I remember she usually had a pretty scarf on that matched everything she wore.

I am now 86 years old and my husband is still living so we are still in our home.

The memory of Wilma will always be in my heart and she helped me with my stay at River Pointe. I will always remember her as being such a beautiful and gracious lady and I have thought of her often since I left River Pointe. The story of my life, I should have contacted her and told her all of these things. Maybe I have learned a lesson.

WITH LOVE AND KNOW YOU ALL HAVE GOOD MEMORIES OF WILMA.

You have my sincere sympathy on Wilma's passing. I am a cousin of Wilma. My father and her mother were bother and sister. Although I hadn't seen Wilma since Edna Mae's funeral, I'm truly sorry for your loss.
